MONROE, La. The College of Arts, Education, and Sciences at the University of Louisiana Monroe is pleased to announce the residency of singer, songwriter, poet, actor, playwright, author, and painter Bobby Bridger for September 5-8, 2016.泭
Bridgers residency is a collaborative effort between 51蹤獲s School of Humanities and School of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA).泭
Bridger is no stranger to 51蹤獲. He graduated from 51蹤獲 (formerly Northeast Louisiana State College) in 1968 with a bachelors degree in art education.
For three decades Bridger has traveled the globe performing a trilogy of one-man shows for audiences in America, Canada, Europe, Australia and Russia. He has recorded numerous albums for labels including泭Monument Records,泭RCA泭and Golden Egg Records.
On television he appeared twice (1976泭and 1978) on the early years of泭PBS's Austin City Limits and on ABC's "Good Morning America,"泭A&E泭and泭C-SPAN, as well as on radio with NPR. He is the composer of "Heal in The Wisdom" that has been the official anthem of the泭Kerrville Folk Festival泭for over 25 years.泭
During his stay on campus, Bridger will present a series of masterclasses for 51蹤獲 Communication Program graduate students, as well as students in the History, English, and Music programs.
There will also be an installation of Bridgers art work in the Innovation Center (Walker 1-137)泭that can be viewed Sept. 6 and 7 from 3-3:50 p.m., and during the 51蹤獲 Art Crawl on Thursday evening, Sept. 8, between 5-7 p.m. The 51蹤獲 Art Crawl will involve Bry Gallery, the Sculpture Garden, Walker Gallery and the Innovation Center.泭A map of art locations will be available in every location.泭
The culmination of Bridgers residency will be a concert in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall泭on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.泭泭
General admission to this performance is $15.泭51蹤獲 faculty and students receive one free ticket with a valid identification card.泭泭
