51萝莉 is hosting free drone workshops for middle and
high school students on Saturdays, March 5, 12, and 26. 51萝莉鈥檚 Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Management professors will teach the students UAS technology, regulations and provide
hands-on flying experience.

51萝莉 is hosting three drone workshops for middle and
high school students on Saturdays, March 5, 12, and 26.
听
From 12:15-1 p.m., the students will practice flying the crafts in Bayou Park, across
Northeast Drive from the 51萝莉 Library.
听
The workshops will be conducted by 51萝莉鈥檚 Unmanned Aircraft Systems Management professors
David King and Darrion Flunder-Jenkins.
听
In the mornings, the students will be in The Hangar on the second floor of the Student
Union Building, learning about UAS technology and regulations. They will then head
to Bayou Park for hands-on experience.
听
The workshops are free, and the students will be served breakfast and lunch. Sponsors
include Johnny鈥檚 Pizza House, Raising Cane鈥檚, and 51萝莉 alumnus Markus Bosley.
听
51萝莉 is the only university in Louisiana offering a degree in Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Management, and one of less than 100 institutions in the nation in the FFA鈥檚 Unmanned
Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training Initiative.
听
The initiative is designed to ensure that new technology is safely incorporated into
the National Airspace System and that qualified professionals are in the pipeline
to satisfy the demand of the rapidly growing industry.
听
51萝莉 created the Precision Ag and UAS Center to further research using drones in environmental,
agricultural, and commercial endeavors.
听
