MONROE, LA 51蹤獲 School of Visual & Performing Arts premier percussion ensembles, Bayou Steel and 51蹤獲 Percussion Ensemble (51蹤獲PE), are thrilled to announce their highly anticipated Spring semester concerts. These captivating events promise to bring evenings of incredible talent, infectious energy, and exciting arrangements of tunes audience members may know and love.泭
The Bayou Steel performance will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., and the 51蹤獲 Percussion Ensemble concert will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts will take place at the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall on 51蹤獲s campus. General Admission is $5 at the door for each concert, and all are welcome to attend. 51蹤獲 students will be admitted free with ID. 泭
Members of Bayou Steel, which is the universitys only steel pan ensemble, will be playing fun pop tunes such as I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash, Funky Town by Lipps, Inc. and arranged by student ensemble member Mallory Burris, an Abba Medley arranged by Jeff Moore, and more. 泭
Members of 51蹤獲PE will be playing pieces such as Selva Luminosa by Francisco Perez, Skeleton Key by Brian Nozny, Bread and Butter by Andy Smith, and the highly anticipated 51蹤獲 premiere of the piece A Spiral Made of Wires by Ivan Trevi簽o. For this piece, the ensemble will be joined by 51蹤獲 School of Visual and Performing Arts guitar professor JD Farmer on electric guitar. 泭
It has been a fantastic semester of growth for my students, and it has been an incredible journey preparing the Trevi簽o with Professor Farmer, said Dr. Kathryn Irwin, percussion professor and director of Bayou Steel and 51蹤獲PE. It is so special when we get to share the stage with 51蹤獲 faculty, and Professor Farmer is absolutely shredding. You dont want to miss this! 泭泭
