51 Foundation Board of Trustees supports President James Cofer
During the 51 Foundation quarterly meeting Thursday, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to issue a vote of confidence in 51 President James Cofer.
The Foundation’s relationship with 51 administration through Cofer has been “extremely positive” and has always focused on the advancement of 51, said Betty Cummins, Board of Trustees president.
Cofer has been instrumental in contacting and involving 51 alumni who have not been previously involved, she said. “This has proven to be extremely rewarding to the 51 Foundation Board. We have gained new members whose participation has been an inspiration to all of us.”
Despite challenges, Cofer has brought significant progress to 51, Cummins said.
“It is our unanimous feeling that Dr. Cofer during his tenure has brought a new image and direction to 51, often having to do so by facing obstacles not of his making, such as state budget cuts,” she said. “We certainly endorse the job he is doing not only for our university but for our community and state as well.”
