VAPA announces cast of fall musical
The University of Louisiana at Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts announces the cast of its fall musical, 鈥淏at Boy: The Musical.鈥�
The Divisions of Music, Theatre and Dance will produce the play, which runs from Nov. 11-13 with its last performance on Nov. 15. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre.
The cast includes mass communications major James Willis in the title role. Willis is joined by:
- musical theatre major Justin Hawn
- English major Schylar Berry
- music voice major Betsy Lowe
- music education major Evan Bray
- elementary education major Sarah Keyes
- political science major Jerry Norman
- music education major Courtney Walker
- biology major Heather Davis
- Spanish major Lyndsey Floyd
- College of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeffrey Cass
The play will also feature the IDE Gospel Choir and the 51萝莉 Dance Repertory Ensemble.
Admission is free for 51萝莉 students, faculty and staff with school I.D. Tickets are $15 for the general public and may be purchased by calling the box office at 318-342-1414.
鈥淏at Boy: The Musical鈥� is a cult hit based on tabloid stories in a National Enquirer-style paper about a child with needle teeth and Spock ears who supposedly was discovered in a cave in West Virginia in 1992.
In the stage version, a friendly family takes in the demonic-looking, half-breed and tries to teach him to live in civilized society, only to discover that West Virginia isn鈥檛 quite as civilized as they hoped.
The show鈥檚 producers describe it as 鈥淭he Rocky Horror Picture Show鈥� meets 鈥淢y Fair Lady.鈥�
